Behave like the others
Behave like the
others The Abbe Pastor was walking with a monk of Sceta when
they were stopped and invited to eat.
The owner of the house, honored by the presence of the monks,
sent to serve them his best food.
However, the monk was observing a period of fasting; As
soon as the food arrived, he picked up a pea
and chewed it slowly. He only ate this pea, all through dinner.
On the way out, the abbot Pastor called him:
"Brother, when you visit someone, do not make
your holiness an offense.
The next time you are fasting, do not accept dinner
invitations.
The monk understood what the abbot Pastor was saying.
From then on, whenever he was with other people, he behaved like them.
